About

Brian Staley is seeking your vote and support as the Republican Party candidate for Judge of the 333rd District Court.

As an attorney with over 27 years of experience practicing civil law, and a small business owner himself, Brian has a personal understanding of the law and how it impacts every community in Houston. Having dedicated his entire career to practicing law, Staley possesses the courtroom experience and legal background essential for the role.

Brian attended the University of Mississippi on a full academic scholarship. After college, he went to work for the Central Intelligence Agency in Washington, D.C. as an Intelligence Research Specialist/Imagery Analyst. He left Washington to attend law school at South Texas College of Law in Houston, graduating in 1996, and passing the Texas bar the same year. His and his wife Carol were married in Houston in 1990. They are the proud parents of three grown children, who all live and work in Houston.

In addition to being licensed to practice law in Texas, he is also licensed in Arizona, Colorado, the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Southern, Eastern, Western, and Northern U.S. District Courts in Texas. He is the 2023 Chair of the Commercial and Consumer Law Section of the Houston Bar Association, and is a member of the Texas Creditor’s Bar Association, and the State Bar of Texas.

About the 333rd District Court

The 333rd handles general civil cases for Harris County. District courts have original jurisdiction in cases involving title to land, election contest cases, and civil matters in which the amount of money or damages involved is $200 or more. In civil lawsuits, individuals or organizations bring each other to court to resolve a dispute. The penalties typically involve financial or property compensation. In trial courts, witnesses are heard, testimony is received, exhibits are offered into evidence, and a verdict is rendered.

Brian understands that the cases in this court are of vital importance to the people involved. He learned very early in his career that what may be another day in the office for the attorneys involved is usually a unique, bewildering, and stressful experience to the people involved. No case is routine or unimportant, and everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.

For Staley, the rule of law is paramount in safeguarding liberty.

He asserts that manipulating the rules to secure a desired result jeopardizes both the rule of law and liberty. He passionately believes that every individual appearing before the court deserves fair treatment and the opportunity to be heard. This holds true whether one is represented by an attorney or self-representing. Every Texas citizen, he contends, is entitled to a just judge who will accord them the dignity and respect they deserve.

Beyond his extensive legal experience, Staley, alongside his wife, embarked on an entrepreneurial journey seven years ago, launching a small retail business. This venture has been both rewarding and challenging for them. From grappling with regulations and taxes to confronting flooding, government-imposed shutdowns that nearly led to the business's closure, and a rise in crime, Staley knows firsthand the challenges of managing a business and the importance of community support. He understands the significance of meeting payroll commitments and persevering during tough times. He deeply values and appreciates the immense support received from the local community.
